Eagle Software

Eagle Software develops school administrative software and primarily serves the California educational market. The owner of Eagle Software is Jerry Lloyd, creator of the original SASIÔ student information system. SASI-3Ô is currently installed in over 2500 California schools, and over 4,000 schools nationwide.

In 1995, Mr. Lloyd designed the EASY-98 package using Microsoft's ACCESSÔ database product. EASY-98 is built upon 30 years of experience in California school administrative software design. It was designed to be simple, easy to learn and to use, yet extremely powerful. It gives users the ability to change absolutely anything in the system, never again having to rely on a software vendor for anything!

EASY-98 is a modern Student Information System, designed to replace aging DOS software with a state-of-the-art, easy-to-use Windows product. EASY-98 can be gradually phased into existing SASIÔ installations, sharing the same network, and at a very low cost. Schools can start with just one modern Windows computer along with all their old DOS computers.

EASY-98 is extremely easy to learn and to use. Most functions can be performed with just a click or two of the mouse button, or a keystroke or two on the keyboard. Shown below is the main control panel used by secondary schools in EASY-98. Every function in EASY-98 is accessible from this form almost instantly.

To access student data, a user simply clicks on the Student Data button, or presses "F" on the keyboard. Other major functions are accessed similarly. This is the only form employing icons, and they are each labeled to show their functions. In all other screen forms, each function is shown in plain English, so the user always knows exactly what to do. Help is always available simply by pressing F1 on the keyboard. Users with mouse phobia can always use the keyboard to access any function in EASY-98. Hot Keys can be used to quickly move between screens.

EASY-98 was developed completely in the Microsoft ACCESS relational database product. The programming language is Access BASIC, a fairly simple language compared to others in use today. EASY-98 comes with all the "source" code, which means users can modify ANYTHING in the system! Never again will you be at the mercy of a software vendor for making even the smallest change in a report or screen form. You can easily add more data to any table, change the sizes or types of data, create new tables, forms, reports, queries, etc. There are literally dozens of books, videotapes, and classes available to help you learn Access.

Access enforces "relational integrity" within your database. This means you simply can not assign an invalid course, teacher or section, drop a course currently in use anywhere, or make any similar error in your EASY-98 database. In other systems, such data integrity may not be part of the database manager, but left to the programmer, who may or may not enforce it.

EASY-98 is designed so that ALL of the current data for your school is contained in one single database. This means you have just one file to backup each night, rather than dozens of files and indexes. There is a separate database for each school and year. This makes it very easy to send your school's data to another school, since everything is in one file.

All the software contained in EASY-98 is also kept in one database file. Because Access provides all the data management, report writing, query and other systems functions, the EASY-98 software can be compressed onto two diskettes! Most other systems require dozens of diskettes to provide the same functionality. And since the source code is included in EASY-98, you can use it to maintain and enhance your system far into the future!

EASY-98 makes it very simple for SASIÔ users to convert their SASIÔ data to EASY-98 or to create SASIÔ files from EASY-98. Other systems require you to send your data to the vendor where it is converted to their new proprietary database. You can not do it yourself, and you can never convert it back again. Any custom software you have purchased for SASIÔ in the past can never be used again, since you can not re-create SASIÔ files from your new system. In EASY-98, you can rebuild any SASIÔ file from EASY-98 at any time. You can also create EASY-98 databases from all your past years SASIÔ data files!

SASI-3Ô users can also continue to run SASI-3Ô in parallel with EASY-98, even making updates to both systems. Periodically the updates are reconciled, and a new database and SASI-3Ô data files are created containing all the updated information. This means you can gradually phase in EASY-98 as funds permit. You do not have to replace everything all at once!

Pricing and Hardware Requirements

Pricing for EASY-98 is very competitive, well within the reach of most schools. Elementary schools pay $3,000 and secondary schools pay $5,000 for the software. The first year of support is $500 for elementary and $1,000 for secondary. If your district has a data processing coordinator through which all support is directed, the support costs are cut in half. Training costs are $350 per half day. Traveling expenses will be added if necessary for training.

EASY-98 requires a Windows capable computer system with at least 16 megabytes of memory. However, a 32 MB Pentium processor is preferred. Any current version of Windows may be used, including Windows 95 and NT. Existing networks and DOS computers will work together with EASY-98 running at the same time. ACCESS 2.0 should be installed on each EASY-98 computer. It is also possible to use a run-time version of Access, which is free.

Now would be an excellent time for you to try out EASY-98. We would be glad to send you a demonstration copy that you can use with your own school's data. You can easily create a new Access database from your schools files, and try out all the features in EASY-98. You can also now download a demonstration copy of EASY-98 that contains most of the features of the full version.
